Amazon.com Review

Like the reading of Tarot cards, the spreading of the runes, or the touch of a Ouija board, The Oracle Book offers immediate responses to seekers' questions. Written by In Style magazine's savvy astrologer Georgia Routsis Savas, this immediate form of divination is called bibliomancy--the art of foretelling the future using books. The idea is for readers to first ask a yes-or-no question (the clearer the question, the clearer the response). Then readers run their thumbs over the edge of the pages of the Oracle Book until they sense their thumb has landed on the right spot. Finally, they open the page. The answer appears in a two-page spread and could come from any number of divination sources, including Tarot, astrology, dice, and even tea leaves. For example, it might read, "Libra, the sign of the scales, or balance, counsels you to consider another's feelings. Or, "The Crystal ball depicts an empty purse; don't be greedy." Or, "The tea leaves are in the shape of a shell: whatever you desire will be yours." The attractive typeface and illustrations make this an enticing tool to work with. As with all oracles, it's the reader's open-mindedness and intuitive skills that will determine how lasting and helpful of a resource this can be. --Gail Hudson --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A true Mystery Book, December 21, 2004

This is not so much a book as it is a divination tool. In fact, it is probably one of the easiest systems of divination to use- you simply concentrate on a "yes or no" question and thumb the pages until your intuition tells you to open it. There you will find your answer- and a little bit more.
Over the years I have used several divination systems (Tarot, I Ching, the Runes, and a couple more) but I was always curious about bibliomancy. It appears to be a form of "controlled synchronicity" as valid as any of the others- though limited to the degree of information that it can impart.
The book itself is a high quality artifact. You would swear that it is antique leather bound volume at first examination. It is a thick volume, but since it lacks page numbers, I cannot say exactly how thick. I know that people can't seem to keep their hands off of it, so it would probably make a great gift. An entertaining gesture might be to send it to a friend anonymously, to add a little mystery to their lives.

I have given this book to friends, and every single one of them loves it. The thing is, it's not just fun and insightful, AND like having your own fortune teller in the palm of your hand...but it's also very nicely made, with a beautiful, thick hardcover, with sensitively written words on aged-looking pages. The first time I picked the book up, I thought, "This is so nice!" It is not often you say that about just the book itself. It's a definite luxury item for your bookshelf, and your psyche. The author obviously put much care and thought into the words, the research, and the total look of this book, and that's very refreshing.

Product Description

THE HISTORY: Over five thousand years ago, a renegade faction of angels abandoned the spiritual realm and began their inhabitation of earth. Worshiped as gods for their wisdom and power, they corrupted the realm of the physical and forever altered the course of history.
THE PROPHECY: Amidst the chaos of a dying world, a lone voice foretold the awakening of a warrior who would bring an end to this evil perpetrated against all of creation. But with the cataclysmic destruction of earth and rebirth of humanity, the prophecy went unfulfilled and eventually faded from the memory of our kind—until now!
THE AWAKENED: The physical dimension is fractured. What remain now are numerous fragmented worlds moving simultaneously through time, sharing a common history, connected only by a guarded portal. On a parallel earth, in the city of Bastul, Colonel Adair Lorus disappears while investigating the death of an informant, triggering a series of events which will tear his family apart and set in motion the resolution of an ancient struggle. Kael, sentenced to death after rising up against the cruel leadership of his new step-father, is rescued from prison and trained in the arts of war by a mystical order of clerics. Excelling in every aspect of his training, Kael inwardly struggles to give himself fully to the methods of his new family, or the god they worship. Maeryn, bitter over the disappearance of her husband and supposed execution of her son, fears for her life at the hands of her newly appointed husband. Finding comfort and purpose in her unborn child, she determines to undermine his authority by reaching out to an underground social movement known as the Resistance. After being forced from his home, Kael’s former mentor, Saba, uncovers a clue to Adair’s disappearance. Sensing a connection to his own forgotten past, Saba begins an investigation which leads to the discovery of a secret military organization operating within the Orudan Empire.
In book one of his debut series, Jason Tesar delves into the heart of an ancient legend, embarking on an epic saga that will journey from earth’s mythological past to its post-apocalyptic future, blending the genres of fantasy, sci-fi, and military/political suspense.

Just when I gave up on fiction/fantasy..., May 31, 2011

This review is from: The Awakened: Book One (Kindle Edition)

I really like fiction/fantasy books like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Ranger's Apprentice, etc..., and I'm very loyal. The problem I've had in the past was there are too many copied fantasy series too similar to already established series (i.e. coming-of-age boy just finding out he's a wizard, or adventurers with a dwarf and elf, and all these books about vampire or werewolf sex - thanks to the Twilight series I suspect, etc...)
It takes me a while to warm up to a new book, so once I find a series, I stick with it. I downloaded this book to my kindle because it was free - I figured I had nothing to lose, and I'm happy I did. The Awakened is a very well written original story that kept me guessing throughout the entire book. I didn't know who the main protagonist was until I was well into the book, and just when I thought I was jaded to any plot-twist, the twist at the end - it made perfect sense! How could I have missed it!
I don't want to give away the story, all I'm saying is that if you like action packed fiction/ fantasy with a little political intrigue/conspiracy, then you will really like this book.

I received The Awakened, Book One, free from Amazon for my Kindle. Thank You. I have not been able to put this book down - the story is new and fresh and exciting. I just purchased Books Two and Three and cannot wait for even more to be written. This author is new and I am very excited about his writing. It seems that so many of my favorite authors have sold out to Hollywood and their writings are never as good any more. It is wonderful to have a new author to read and follow. Keep up the GREAT work!!!!! I love your imagination.
